Addison M. Fischer
Co-Founder and President
Addison Fischer’s career began as a computer entrepreneur when he created his first high-tech startup company in 1973. He ultimately went on to become majority owner of RSA Data Security, which founded VeriSign. Since 1981, he served as co-owner, with Mr. Stanley Druckenmiller, of Duquesne Capital Management until Mr. Druckenmiller’s retirement in 2010.
Mr. Fischer is actively involved in preserving for future generations our environment, natural resources, health, food supply, and freedom. In 2000, he organized an acquisition of a substantial sensitive primeval Costa Rican rainforest to prevent its destruction by timber and farming interests.
In 2008, with Ms. Cindy Mercer, Mr. Fischer founded Planet Heritage Foundation (PHF), a grant and impact investing private foundation which works to establish highly leveraged environmental collaborations. For example, in 2010, partnering with Oak Foundation, Waitt Foundation and Marisla Foundation, Planet Heritage launched Oceans 5, a global funders collaborative that offers new and experienced philanthropists an effective platform to collectively target larger impact. The Oceans 5 goal is to protect the planet’s five oceans. Partners include Bloomberg Philanthropies, The Wyss Foundation, The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Moore Charitable Trust, Paul Angell Family Foundation, Zegar Family Foundation, Adessium, Stellar Blue Fund, Oceankind, Arcadia, Joy Family Foundation and The Tiffany & Co. Foundation.
Mr. Fischer serves as a director of Oceans 5, The Jane Goodall Institute, TAE Technologies, a company developing aneutronic atomic fusion to provide nuclear energy without radioactive by-products.
